Families researching schools need to put several kinds of information in context. Assessment results, student survey indicators, and school characteristics answer different questions. A single number cannot explain all of them.
Campsul brings public British Columbia education information into a product where families can explore schools, compare indicators, and understand how the information is presented.
School and city search, filters, map and list views, and sorting help visitors navigate school information.
A dedicated comparison page brings school indicators into a shared view for further research.
The published methodology explains source datasets, school and year identifiers, calculation choices, and limits in the information.
Keep the source connected to the measure. Campsul’s methodology identifies BC government datasets and explains how school and year identifiers connect the information. This makes the origin of a measure part of the product story.
Explain what a number means. Measures that sound similar can answer different questions. For example, student–teacher ratio is not class size. Naming the distinction helps people interpret the information.
Make limitations visible. Missing or suppressed records and the treatment of those values affect what visitors can conclude. The methodology explains these choices alongside the calculations.
